MACHINE-TO-MACHINE COMMUNICATIONS PERFORMANCE
January 25, 2007, Raleigh, NC – TransLoc Inc. announced today that it has signed a beta site and licensing agreement with Softmaxx Inc. of Research Triangle Park, NC. Under the terms of the agreement, TransLoc will beta site the Softmaxx cellular communication software module, Linkmaxx, and the companies will work together to integrate Linkmaxx into TransLoc’s transit information systems. TransLoc has also agreed to license the technology.
TransLoc CEO Joshua Whiton is eagerly anticipating Softmaxx's new Linkmaxx communications software. "Most cellular modem communications interfaces take far too long to get to a working and reliable state. By alleviating this burden, Softmaxx could allow TransLoc to focus on taking our next-generation applications to market. We're excited about being a Linkmaxx beta site."
"We are excited to be working with TransLoc's unique and challenging machine-to-machine (M2M) applications," said Ian Johnson, CEO of Softmaxx. "We want to help our customers focus on their end applications and avoid the complexities and idiosyncrasies of cellular modem technology. Softmaxx has the expertise and experience to eliminate this time-consuming, and costly engineering effort and has developed an off-the-shelf product, Linkmaxx, to address this market."
There are over 9 different cellular modem vendors in the marketplace, each of which requires a different software interface to establish and control communications. Linkmaxx provides a single, consistent communications interface for all cellular modems, eliminating the engineering and testing of custom-software that TransLoc must develop, reducing costs and speeding time-to-market of M2M solutions.
